Dear Josie,
I am so so so sorry for your loss….as I type this – I have tears in my eyes.
Roy was my boss from 1999-2001 ( and my dear friend until the end) – and he was hands down the BEST boss I ever had. He was so smart, and generous with his time – and willing to listen to ideas and collaborate – the signs of a great leader. We was so admired by all at that organization.
Roy was also hilarious…..he could get me and Lechelle and Kristine in hysterics telling us some of his stories and antics …….my favorite “Roy Story” was when he drove up a mountain road in a snow storm without knowing it had been closed by the RCMP. He was greeted by the RCMP @ the top – who were positively amazed that a car had made it through such conditions ! Hearing him tell that story was delicious.
He was unequivocally kind to animals….when he first bought his home on Braemar he used to feed a little cat that came to his door smoked oysters – thinking the cat was a stray……..until the owner popped by one day good naturedly speaking of her cat gaining weight and smelling like oysters ! And that yes……the cat indeed had a home the next street over………
It was @ the house on Braemar that he would host the BEST BBQ’s ……….ever ! With Flintstone sized ribs and a delicious cucumber salad from a recipe that his Mum used to make. It was @ one of these fetes that we made so many margaritas we burned out the motor in his blender !
Roy was one of a kind….one of a delicious kind. While the world has lost an amazing, brilliant, hilarious & generous man……….heaven just got a whole lot funnier.
Roy – you will be forever missed………
Rest in Peace my Dear Friend,

Sincere condolences on the passing of Roy. He was a honest and effective leader that I had the honor of reporting to when he headed up a technology team that I represented. Roy also had a great sense of humour and was always ready to offer assistance or advice when asked, and was recognized for his ability to motivate and inspire his team.

Dear Josie,
I am sorry to be writing this condolence so late, but I’ve never stopped thinking of posting my thoughts for Roy since the day of the service.
I just wanted to tell you and all of Roy’s friends and your family what a wonderful person I thought Roy was. It’s hard for me to put into words how kind, funny and smart Roy was! I was fortunate enough to have worked with him at EWB. He was a trusted, valuable and insightful co-worker to myself and to my colleagues. He was someone that everyone went to for counsel and his opinion on anything! His opinion meant so much!! He was a stand-up guy, amazingly smart!! Roy saw through people, he saw everyone for who they were. He was amazing to be around, with his captivating spirit.
I will always miss you Roy and I think of you from time to time, and I hope you know reading this from heaven how much I adored your soul and wit and how much I will miss laughing non stop with you!!!
There are few people Iike Roy around, I wish I had spent more time with him.
