I always thought loving someone is the greatest feeling but I realized that loving a friend is even better.
We lose people we love but we never lose true friends.
The great soul is the person who has taken on the task of changing.
You my friend worked so hardin changing and growing. You gave so much of yourself to who ever reached out for help.
You will always be with me Heather at 8:30 am talking on the phone.
I hope we can give you the send off you deserve.

Folks,
I am a Correctional Officer at the Ontario Correctional Institute (OCI) in Brampton, Ontario. We are a Correctional facility with a “treatment focus”. We emphasize rehabilitative programming for people often convicted of addiction-related criminal offences.
More than ANY OTHER FACTOR in our “fiscally restrained” and often “socially toxic” justice system, Volunteers compose the MOST important, effective and influential resource to these struggling- if not desperate – individuals. They truly epitomize the term “unsung heroes”!
Indeed, our Volunteers are selfless Ambassadors of “Hope”, “Help”, and “Human Validation”. They regularly give the non-renewable resource of their “Time” to empathize with, validate, and salvage the lives of “Residents”, who attend programs like “AA”.
Heather Gallagher lived this Volunteer “vocation”. Indeed, I had the distinct privilege of meeting her regularly as she attended and helped to facilitate programs for the “Residents” at OCI – one day at a time!
Heather was so deeply committed to her cause, that her influences among her friends and “Residents” she addressed at OCI was very evident. Assuredly, Heather gave her “Time” to assist others in seeing that adversity over specific personal challenges was possible with hard work, consistent practice, and supportive fellowship.
Heather’s “Time” is sadly no longer available for giving. Yet, Heather’s inspirational accomplishments and dedication to helping others SHOULD perpetuate through our respective memories of just how compassionately she treated others.
We will NEVER know just how many people Heather has helped and/or supported through her generous gifting of “Time”. However, I have no doubt that Heather’s “Higher Power” does!
To Heather’s family, friends, and committed Volunteer Fellowship (wherein Heather was clearly loved, understood, and appreciated), I extend my deepest condolences. While Heather will be sorely missed, I personally imagine her in the blissful presence of God, FINALLY getting to meet her friend, “Bill”!
Thank-you for your “Time” and “Fellowship” Heather!! I KNOW you made a positive difference to the lives of many!
