Monica, thinking of you as you go through this sad time. I remember fondly the times when Uncle Joel would pull up in front of the house to take us all to La Ronde. Those were fun times! He’ll be missed!

My sympathy to the family. I remember Joel fondly when I attended daily services at congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal. He was very welcoming and would remind me that we are related by the Benjamin family through my maternal grandfather, Joseph Ein. המקום ירחם אתכם בתוך שעה הרי ציון בירושלים

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Joel. I worked at the Shaar for my years when he lead the minyan there. He was a fine gentleman, and a feisty one. I hope you have many good memories to sustain you in this time of sadness. Joel will be missed.

Dear Family,
I met Joel in 1985 while saying kaddish for my father and I’ve remained part of the Shaar morning minyan (albeit weekly) since then. He was kind and interesting and even took me to his golf course.
During the last seven years or so, it was always a pleasure to bump into him and his lively spirit never waivered. It was especially evident when he was a volunteer at the Montreal General Hospital; maintaining order and all the while helping patients discover courage and optimism that they didn’t remember they had.
Please accept our condolences to Laura and the entire family.
