It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of your beloved Howard. It was a pleasure getting to know him a little over the years and having him share his insights in and outside of the markets. May his memory provide his family and friends with an abundant source of kindness, warmth, wisdom, humour, strength and love always.
Stephania Duffee
Sending our condolences to the entire family. Howard is fondly remembered by us as a golfing enthusiast. Russ remembers one summer back in the 1970’s when Howard worked nights and golfed days. There were always many laughs in the foursome and sometimes money changed hands albeit grudgingly given up. Howard’s life is to be celebrated. His memory will live on. – Stephania and Russell Duffee

First met Howard when we lived next door to Lin in Markham. We spent many enjoyable evenings sampling red wine.
Remember Howard & Lin visiting us in London. One evening late walking home through the Mews courtyard, after visiting the local, we woke all the neighbours by signing O Canada as loud as we could.
Remember sitting on a bedroom balcony in Ravello and having our first Limoncello with Howard & Lin, enjoying the view of the Amalfi coast at sunset. Absolutely one of our best memories with Howard and a perfect evening.
Howard was always easy relaxed company, who improved each situation just by being himself.
Getting seated at the back of Harry’s bar in Venice because Howard did not meet the ‘dress code’, far from detracting from the evening, made it a memory to cherish with us rolling with laughter the whole night.
Howard until we meet again and continue the adventures, rest well.

Howard, we only met face to face a handful of times but you were a real gentleman. I know you were a great family man and a true professional. Will always remember our great times in Edinburgh when we went to Wighams wine bar and then on to the casino. I remember too that you fell out your bed when staying with my Mum and Dad. You looked after us well when we last visited Canada and just so sorry we didn’t get a last chance to meet up 💙. You leave behind a great legacy and you will be missed by us all. Treasured memories.

We enjoyed our visits to Canada and felt so welcome in your home.
Such a lovely quiet spoken family man.

Please accept my belated sympathies on Howard’s passing.
I was introduced to Howard by my late father, who was his client since Midland Walwyn. He moved with Howard to Merrill Lynch, Wood Gundy then CIBC. I found Howard to be a trusted advisor, knowledgable (in equities and world affairs) and willing to do more research when he was unsure. I have yet to find his equal, and will miss him greatly.

I was sad to hear of Howard’s passing. Howard hired me in my first position with WG. He was a great guy to work with, who supported and stood up for his people. We enjoyed some fun times at work, on the golf course, and celebrating with friends. He will be missed.
