Gard Fischer – Jenssen

Peacefully at home on July 24, 2021 in his 76th year after a prolonged illness. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Doris (nee Kallweit) and his children Andrea (Jason) Mueller and Kristian. Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Eric and Matthew Mueller. Survived by his mother, Kate Fischer-Jenssen of Markham and his sister Margarita (Harold) in Norway. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada and Norway. Predeceased by his brother George (Lisa). He was a gentle soul whose smile could brighten any room. Our family would like to recognize the compassion, dedication and excellence in care of nurse Allan Lim.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Gard are asked to consider Evergreen Hospice or the Markham Stouffville Hospital.
A private family cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be organized at a later date.

We loved Gard and will miss him tremendously.
We remember our many years of cottaging together, his fondness for euchre, his swimming in the lake with his broken leg still in a cast but well wrapped in a garbage bag, his love of games and of sometimes…just sometimes, cheating at them. He was an outdoors man for whom nature was a touchstone.
He was a man who loved his family and nature and, boy, did he love to eat! We well remember Gard eating delicacies no one else would touch!
What a guy!
We know that things will not be same without him and we send all our love to Doris, Andrea and Kristian.

Not to long ago the girls got together for lunch in their garden oasis. We were so happy that Gard could join us. Clearly Gard enjoyed the outdoors as does Doris. It was a beautiful afternoon and a beautiful memory.
Gard will be missed by all 💕 Cindy

Hi Doris
Marilyn Fraser Mayhew here. Glad you had a long and happy marriage by the sound of things to Gard. I have been thinking of your family for some time and trying to find out something. I knew you married Margarita’s brother but had forgotten his first name. Now typing in Doris Kallweit without Fischer – Janssen, I found you. Glad to hear Gard’s mom and Margarita are still alive. Joan, my sister, was a good friend of Margarita. I wish you well in your days to come.

I’m so sorry to learn about Gard. He was always such a kind person…….even back when we were teenagers. I gathered he wasn’t well due to one of your comments when we spoke some time ago.
I know you miss him and his help with your gardening……..
