Michael George Ryan

Michael George Ryan
July 27th,1975 – July 7th, 2018
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael who was taken from us, too young, at the age of 42. Michael had a kind and giving heart; his love for animals led him to do volunteer work providing pet therapy for patients at a nearby hospital. Michael also volunteered his time doing handyman work at a supportive housing facility in Toronto. He was a compassionate person who was generous with his time and always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Prospect Cemetery scattering garden (Section 38) on Sept 8th, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. The scattering garden is located at the north end of the cemetery at the pedestrian entrance close to Eglinton West and Caledonia (street parking available). Alternatively, vehicle entrances are located off of Kitchener Avenue or Rogers Road. The cemetery’s official address is 1450 St.Clair Avenue West, Toronto
A reception will follow at Jack’s Bakery & Pastry from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at 352 Oakwood Avenue. Follow Rogers Road East and make a right onto Oakwood Avenue. The bakery is less than 1 block south on the west side of the street.

It was with great shock and sadness that I head of Mike’s passing. He was a good friend to me, helping me move apartments 4 years ago. He was kind and supportive. I admired his ability to be of service to his family. I will miss him.

My sympathy and prayers for the family.I met Mike this year and though we did not know each other long we had many intimate and honest conversations . We went for coffee and we both shared our common challenges and common desire to improve our lives and our hope was to be a loving member of our families.I remember him speaking much of his sister who was in the hospital .My experience with Mike was that he may have had a tough exterior most times ,he was a sensitive and thoughtful man who was trying to improve his life and to heal .Not just for himself but to help others too .We had very similar problems and a desire to be free from our hurts and our past mistakes.

Like his family, Michael was generous, caring and loving. His devotion to Marie never faltered. The loss of him, and the recognition of the fight that he fought has deeply touched many people I have spoken to. But in a dark summer sky, if you’re lucky, you will occasionally see a shooting star that is beautiful and fleeting. I will chose to remember the light he brought to his family, and friends.Also we all should remember him for the glimmer of hope that streaked across all of our lives.To Marie and her siblings my dearest condolences I don’t want to sound cliche but Michael will be there in everything you do and walk with you.th love was a testament.
“The body hoped, and heard the spirit’s call,
And would have followed – would have ventured forth
From time’s vile ruins beyond the temporal
And known the unknowable loveliness naked and near;
Would have surprised the seasons of the year
And slaked itself upon the turning earth,
Would have possessed the sun, the stars, the moon –
But fell asleep too soon”. George Dillon .RIP Michael
