Ruth Schattner died in Toronto on August 10, 2021. Ruth was born in 1930, in Vienna, Austria, to Leo and Sala Schattner. The Schattner family left Vienna in 1938, spending the war years in Switzerland. They emigrated to New York, N.Y. in 1948. Ruth obtained her B.A. degree in French at Hunter College in 1951. She then accepted a scholarship from the University of Toronto (Canada) to study for the PhD degree in French. She was awarded the PhD degree in November 1963. Jorgina Capeche Hespanha Loving, genuine and an inspiration to all of us. Peacefully on August 12th, 2021 at the age of 80, Jorgina Capeche Hespanha passed away at Richmond Hill, Ontario after a 3 year battle with Lung Cancer. We like to say that she won the battle. She beat all the prognostics, never complained despite all the challenges, was always positive, smiling and ensured the hair was done, the makeup was on and she was looking good. April 19, 1922-July 29, 2021 Norma Eleanor Wall was born in Toronto in 1922, the second daughter of Charles and Mary Edith Bottomley. Her sister, Margaret, pre-deceased her in 2019. Both remarkable women lived to the advanced age of 99. Eleanor completed her early education in Toronto and graduated from Harbord Collegiate after which she worked briefly at Gages Publishing Company in Toronto. Married January 29, 1942 to Ernest Allenby Wall who predeceased her in 1979, she moved to Ottawa where Alan (as he was called) was in the signal corps in the army.
