Wilkinson, Marilyn Jean (nee Bailey)

Wilkinson, Marilyn Jean (nee Bailey) – Born September 6, 1942, sadly succumbed to her valiant battle with cancer, at age 75, on Sunday August 19th, 2018 at Markham Stouffville hospital. She passed peacefully in her sleep.
Marilyn was a strong and loving role model, volunteering with the Stroke Recovery Group at March of Dimes. She spent her early career as an operator at Bell Canada, followed by a lengthy career at The Nielsen Company before joining the Michaels Team.
Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother and caring friend. She was a fan of both the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. She was also a long time part of the Riverwood Park Community where she had enjoyed camping, dances, campfires, camaraderie and spent many hours volunteering. She was creative, loving crafts. She loved to play cards, go out to restaurants and a bit later in life discovered a love for Walt Disney World Resort which she visited numerous times. She had a well known love of Christmas, going all out to deck the halls! Marilyn made a mean banana bread that was much sought after. She loved well, laughed often and will be missed by many.
Marilyn is predeceased by her loving husband George Wilkinson, her parents Arthur and Florence Bailey and her siblings Sheila and Wayne.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children Judy (Gordon Riddell) and Sally (Dennis Baez), her grandchildren David and Ryan Riddell along with her brother Martin Bailey (Jeannine). She is fondly remembered by so many family and friends.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital for the amazing care, kindness and dignity afforded her.

I will always remember Marilyn and our good times together, up at Riverwood, Toronto and the last few years getting together with our girls and enjoying lunches out…..she is going to be sorely missed.

I will be ever so greatful that we had a chance to reconnect with Aunt Marilyn, not too long ago. The last time we had seen her, my sister and I were young girls. I remember Dad (Lorne Wilkinson) taking us to go visit and it was perfect because Aunt Marilyn and Uncle George had Judy and Sally who were perfect in age, for Lorrain and I to play with and hang out with. It was always a good thing to hear we were going there. Although we weren`t able to spend alot of time together, I always remembered my Aunt Marilyn kindly and the words Aunt Marilyn and Uncle George became to me, like macaroni and cheese. Two names that just belonged together. Now I`m glad she`s back with her beloved George but boy, she`ll be missed here……<3

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family at this sad time. Marilyn was my second mother and our treasured friend. Her door was always open and the kettle always on, lots of hugs, hen parties, and laughs! She loved well and unconditionally! She was strong and brave not only in this last difficult cancer battle but in how she approached life and adversity as a whole, she met it head on. Her Friendship and Familyship (Our families have been intertwined for nearly 40 years) have been a great gift that we will always treasure. She played a huge role in shaping me and the direction our lives took. She got me started on my 34 year career path at Nielsens, and along with her daughters, introduced me to The Kawarthas and Riverwood park, where I was welcomed into the fold and made many more lifelong friendships and where my husband, the love of my life, and I first met. It is with heavy broken hearts we saw you on your way, but gain comfort in the knowledge that you are at long last reunited with George, the love of your life and your many loved ones that went before you. Rest easy now Marilyn, your work here is done and we will forever treasure the fond memories of our time together. You will always hold a special enduring place in our hearts! God speed!

My deepest sympathies to Marilyn’s family and close friends. Marilyn was always our go to person when ever we needed a volunteer to help us out no matter what the occasion or need . Marilyn was always amicable and did a great job no matter what was asked of her. When needed she got her daughter Judy to assist her.
Marilyn’s friendship and willingness to help will always be appreciated. She will not be forgotten. Marilyn will be missed by all who knew her .
